We are somewhat conservative investors. We both used deferred compensation options through our employers. With inherited 401K accounts and a government pension, we have no need to aggressively manage our retirement accounts. We had been approached by other investment advisors who had wanted us to accept a higher degree of risk since we had a solid base to build off. This was contrary to our wishes, and Alec Prinze was okay with our plan, even though it would mean potentially lower initial commissions for him.

This level of trust led Dave’s family to reach out to Alec when there was an issue with their mother’s estate. Being a child of the Great Depression, their mother has an ingrained distrust of financial institutions. This caused her to hide most of her monetary assets, which we needed to access for her ongoing care. She couldn’t tell us where all the assets were and the financial institutions we contacted told us it wasn’t worth their time to investigate her estate. Alec took up the challenge and was able to find all securities that she had purchased over many decades. This has allowed us to take care of Dave’s mother without having to make potentially ruinous financial decisions.

"We should start this with the fact that money worth managing is new to us. Pre-pandemic we were paycheck to paycheck types running a small business on the side of our main gigs. The age old adage of luck being when opportunity meeting preparation rang true for us and we quickly began growing our finances in mid 2020. We knew we needed to acquire someone to help us manage our finances and help us start planning, but it was an intimidating task and we didn’t know who was a good fit for us as we didn’t know anyone else in our position; even worse we didn’t know who we could trust.

Enter Alec Prinze in a very serendipitous fashion. Alec introduced himself at a member’s dinner at our local winery. His warm energy and bright smile was disarming, but not as much as his genuine interest in who we were. Luckily that night we had a sample of one of our fragrances and we gifted our new acquaintance a sample. By the end of dinner Alec had his entire table raving about our scent; we exchanged information and our professional relationship began with Alec shortly after.

Alec is professional to his core and to the point, but not without heart and soul. He works hard to understand and assess our comfort level with risk, our short and long term goals, and works to provide us with a sense of partnership and direction. We have never once felt rushed or persuaded to do anything we were not comfortable with, and Alec always takes his time to thoroughly explain anything we’ve had questions about. Most important of all Alec has proven to be someone we can trust. There is an emotional component to financial planning that Alec navigates you through with care and understanding. Not only is getting in contact with him always very easy, he is a supportive friend who has shown up to our events with his family in tow, has utilized his network to help us when we were in a bind, and has shown how much he sees us with thoughtful gestures.
